Willis statement on School finance ruling: "It's time for the Texas Legislature to do its part."

Fort Worth, TX -- Today, Judge John Dietz, presiding judge of the 250th District Court of Travis County released his ruling in the school finance trial.  In the opinion, Judge Dietz found the state school finance system to be "constitutionally inadequate."

 

In the ruling, Judge Dietz went onto say that "...the Legislature had failed to meet its constitutional duty to suitably provide for Texas public schools because the school finance system is structured, operated and funded so that it cannot provide a constitutionally adequate education system for all Texas schoolchildren."
